Okay so this post is so long overdue… it’s officially after Christmas and I’m just sharing my front porch decorated for the holiday season now – oopsy. I even had it decorated so early too (like always)! Oh well. The holiday season has come and gone but I still love my front porch decorations and want to share them with you all (even if it’s a little past Christmas now)! Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this still and maybe you can get some inspiration for next year!
Oh hey – welcome to the front of my house! I absolutely love decorating the front of my house for the holidays (well for any season really) and probably spend more time on it than I do with the inside of my home. I truly believe it makes your home so welcoming and inviting when you spend a little bit of time decorating it. Plus it makes me smile every time I walk up my steps!
Here’s an overall view of my front door. That super cute sleigh I have propped up actually got damaged during a wind storm earlier in the season. You’ll notice in other photos that it’s not there anymore – RIP! I still need to glue it back together…. My garland totally fell off too during windy days so that’s why it may look different in certain photos. I was constantly having to hang it back up, which with my height, was quite a difficult task!
The North Pole sign is actually something I whipped together a couple of years ago. It’s just an old piece of wood I stole from my dad’s garage that I painted a rustic red colour and then stenciled over it with some cheap stencils from Michaels. It was so easy! Seriously anyone could make a sign like this. It involved hardly any skill and I just used materials I already had!
I also added two small fresh greenery planters on either side of the door.
Let’s talk about that wreath! I love how big and full this fresh wreath is and how the bow and pinecones add just the cutest touch. I’m not going to lie – I’m a bit of a fresh greenery snob when it comes to Christmas decorations. I think fresh greenery is so much better than the artificial stuff. Ever since I decided to start decorating with fresh garland and wreaths for the holidays I can’t go back. It just looks so much better and you can’t beat that smell!
I always add garland around the banister on the porch. It looks great and also hides the electrical cord for the Christmas lights! I also used cedar garland instead of pine (which I used around the front door) as I found that the cedar hung way nicer than the pine. The pine didn’t look quite right and was harder to manipulate around the banister.
Just to spruce it up, I also added some pinecones picks for some added texture and colour.
I also placed one more potted greenery at the bottom of my steps.
Also how cute is this little reindeer?? I picked it up last year at a local nursery garden called Cozyn’s Garden Gallery. If you’re local, check them out (especially around the holiday season)!
And here is one last shot of my front porch all decorated for Christmas!
I hope you still enjoyed seeing my front porch decorated for the holiday season, even if I posted it way too late! Hopefully this gives you some ideas and inspiration for next Christmas!
Happy Holidays!
xoxo,
Amy
