Visiting a Pumpkin Patch

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, and what better way to celebrate than to spend time with family, eat turkey, and of course visit a pumpkin patch?

This weekend after slipping into a food coma from eating way too much turkey and mashed potatoes, I wanted to continue the celebrations of Thanksgiving by visiting a local pumpkin patch. Of course I had to drag Joel along against his own free will, but after persuading to buy him hot chocolateย at the pumpkin patch, we were quickly headed on our way to Shantz Family Farm.

Shantz Family Farm is about a 25 minute drive from where we live so it makes for the perfect little day trip, and with the change in colours of the trees, it makes the drive so scenic. It makes me appreciate living in this part of the province so much more, despite the weather getting so cold now and the days getting much shorter.

The pumpkin patch at Shantz Farm has no admission fee, so it makes for a very affordable day trip. Not only is there a pumpkin patch, but there is also a corn maze, wagon rides, and farm animals to see.

The farm has tons of pumpkins out front that have already been picked if you want to save on some time. Or if you prefer to go on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin, you can stroll through the field and find one yourself. There are also wagons you can borrow if you have found a few too many!

I was on the hunt for the ugliest pumpkin. This one was definitely a contender.

I’m obsessed with these pale green pumpkins. I wanted to take both of them home, but I was told reminded that I had too many pumpkins at home already…

The corn maze is different each fall and incorporates special events that happen over the year. We decided to not get lost in it this year, as it was a bit too cold. We have done it a previous year, and if you want to see in advance what the maze is, you can check it out here!

It was a little windy to say the least. Don’t forget to bundle up!

And finally… the perfect pumpkin to take home!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and I hope it made you want to get into the fall spirit! Go check out a pumpkin patch soon before the season is over, and if you’re in the area, check out Shantz Family Farm to find your perfect pumpkin!
