The warm weather is finally here! *Jumps for joy* After a long and grueling winter and waiting patiently for the warmer and sunnier weather, I have finally been able to decorate and spruce up my front porch! I hope this gives you some inspiration and ideas if you’re looking to decorate the outside of your home this summer.
(And yes I am that weird
So let’s take a look at what we’re dealing with… This is my front porch prior to getting decorated. It’s a little sad with not a whole lot going on. It was definitely in need of some sprucing up!
And here it is after!
Start with a wreath! Wreaths are not just for Christmas. You can find so many cute wreaths for any season, or you can even try DIY’ing your own (there are so many tutorials online!). A wreath can make your home look so welcoming and inviting and I won’t even judge you if you decide to have one (or two!) for each season. And to make things easier, you can use a magnetic wreath hanger to hold your wreath in place. I got mine from Canadian Tire, but you can also find many options on Amazon.
The little “hello” decal I actually made at my local library where they have a Silhouette Cameo machine for members to use. As I don’t have my own vinyl cutting machine (yet…) I decided to test it out by making this little decal. I’ve seen so many of these door decals on Pinterest and have been wanting one so badly, but knew I could make one for super cheap rather than purchasing one online.
Layer your mat! Layering front door mats is totally on trend right now. Start with a larger rug that has a pattern and then you can get more creative with the smaller doormat.
A lot of what I have on my front porch is stuff I already had. The lantern was originally green before I spray painted it a lovely periwinkle blue. The woven planter I snagged on sale last year at the end of the season at JYSK.
And that super cute blue chair? I actually scored it off of Kijiji for around $10 and sprayed painted it. I swear there is almost nothing that spraypaint can’t fix.
See how easy it is? Depending on the size of your porch, you could add even more! Mine is rather small, so I didn’t want to go overboard and buy all new things so I tried my best to use what I had. Even if you only buy a wreath or put a few planters beside your door, it will make such a difference! And no, you can never go wrong with having too many plants…
So what will you add to your front porch this summer?!
