Packing for 10 days in a carry-on… yes it is possible to do! True confession: I used to be a total over-packer and assumed that any trip that was one full week or more automatically meant that I would be taking with me a fully stuffed, large suitcase. However, on my last trip to Nova Scotia (which you can read about here and here), I challenged myself to pack a 10-day trip into one carry-on suitcase. Although it was quite the challenge and forced me to be very mindful and selective in the items I was bringing, it was the best decision ever. I’m totally convinced now that for most trips, even those exceeding one full week, opting to take a carry-on is a way better decision. It makes traveling way easier! So for my upcoming trip to New Brunswick, I wanted to challenge myself again to bring 10 days worth of clothing in my carry-on (and also because I didn’t have a choice since I opted for the economic seats and would have to pay extra for checked luggage… ya girl is on a budget, okay?).Read More

A few months ago I made a blog post with my design plans for updating our ensuite bathroom. Being on a budget, I’ve had to get a bit creative in how to go about sprucing up our dated builders-grade bathroom to something a bit more in-style. Although I haven’t finished updating the bathroom completely, I have managed to makeover the vanity and thought I would share the progress so far!
Summer in Ontario is all about spending time in the great outdoors. But if you’re like me, and don’t do camping… you may be a little discouraged to plan a weekend out in the wilderness. However, after scouring across Airbnb in the search to find a quick little weekend getaway that didn’t involve pitching a tent, I was delighted to find so many cute places to stay that were the perfect alternatives!

This past weekend I hit up a bunch of yard sales and scored some amazing finds for super cheap. One of these finds was this decorative ladder that was in desperate need of some sprucing up. With a little bit of time and some paint, I was able to give this old ladder a new life!Read More
Since moving into our house, updating our cheater ensuite bathroom has been something I have been dreaming about doing (dreaming being the keyword). A complete reno is not in the budget this year, or for the
Now that the warmer weather is finally here, I can’t stop obsessing over summer patio decor. There are so many styles, colours, patterns and textures to play with to create your own unique outdoor living space. Regardless of the size and space of your patio, having a spot to enjoy the weather outdoors is something to truly appreciate. So why not spruce it up and make it something you love?
I’ve put together six different styled looks to hopefully give you some inspiration to decorate your outdoor space. Love something from each? Mix it up! That’s what’s so great about decorating – it’s all about what you like and what reflects your personal style. So if that means mixing and matching from different styles, then go for it! No particular style is set in stone, and nowadays styles are so interchangeable and blended that you can’t really go wrong!Read More

Recently Joel and I took a little weekend getaway to one of our favourite spots – Niagara on the Lake. This is a place we frequently visit at least once a year and have done so for the last four or five years. It’s only two hours away from where we live so it makes for the perfect little getaway. Niagara on the Lake, or better known as Wine Country Ontario, is easily one of the most prettiest little towns in the province. Its picturesque shops and boutique stores in the quaint downtown core give off some serious Stars Hallows vibes (any Gilmore Girl fans out there?!). Basically it’s the cutest little town you could ever visit. With endless amounts of wineries and wine samples, charming B and B’s and a large variety of high-rated restaurants, you will not be disappointed in staying here for a night or two! So here is a list of things to do during a weekend in Niagara on the Lake!Read More
A beautifully organized spice drawer can be so pleasing to look it, right? I get so much satisfaction whenever I open my spice drawer and see the matching labels and jars keeping everything nice and organized (and even more with that fact that these little glass jars fit perfectly into this drawer nice and snug – eek)!Read More
