15 Favourites from IKEA’s 2020 Catalogue

August 16, 2019 Leave a Comment

If you’re an IKEA fan (like myself) then you may be aware that a new catalogue comes out each year in August. In the new 2020 catalogue, there are hundreds of new items to browse. When browsing the online catalogue, I came across so many new items that I love and that I want to purchase for my own home. So here is a list of my top 15 items!

Furniture

STOCKSUND Sofa

I love the wider seat of this sofa. It would be the perfect sofa to snuggle up on with a good book or to watch some Netflix. And talk about those legs! I adore the turned legs in beechwood and how they contrast with the grey fabric. Even better is that this sofa’s cover is removable making it super easy to wash and keep clean.

$849.00 CAD

VIMLE Chaise

This chaise provides the ultimate level of comfort. The best part is that the seat lifts up for extra storage.

$500.00 CAD

INGATORP

I love this style of table! It would be perfect for a breakfast nook. Even better is that it extends in order to change the size and to suit your needs.

$399.00 CAD

NILSOVE Chair

If you are looking for the ultimate boho-chic dinning chair, then look no further. With the rounded shapes and detailed patterns of rattan and bamboo, this chair will add the perfect touch of nature into your home.

$129.00 CAD

HAVSTA Storage with Sliding Glass Doors

This storage cabinet would look great in a dining room to hold and store additional serving ware. The design of this cabinet is timeless and will fit in with most styles and decore. The glass doors allow for pieces to be visible while the sliding doors make for the pefect solution for small spaces!

$650.00 CAD

Accessories

LAUTERS Floor Lamp

I love everything about this floor lamp. It’s simplistic and minimal, yet has a very unique design. Its height is adjustable allowing it to be very versatile depending on your lighting needs.

$69.99

BEHARSKA Lantern

I’m slightly obsessed with lanterns, so it’s a no-brainer that I would have this on my list! This lantern’s cut-out pattern and shape adds to make the perfect contemporary touch.

$14.99 CAD

NORDRANA Basket

I love anything to do with organization, and similar to lanterns, I also love baskets! They are so versatile and you can use them to organize so many things. In particular, these specific baskets can be used standing or you can even hang them on the wall using the loops!

$12.99 CAD

SNIDAD Basket

I’m loving the unique shape and look of this basket. It would make for the perfect blanket basket!

$39.99 CAD

LUBBAN Serving Cart with Storage

I absolutely adore this! You could use this serving cart for so many things! It would make the perfect little bar cart or coffee tray, and could even double as an end table.

$99.00 CAD

NISSAFORS Utility Cart

I love the utility carts from IKEA and this one is no exception. This cart is very sleek and minimal and would be perfect for a kitchen, bathroom or wherever storage is needed.

$36.99 CAD

Textiles – Rugs, Cushions, Bedding

VONSBAK Rug

I love the colours in this rug! The blues and green tones in this oriental rug are beautiful but aren’t too overwhelming as the rug has a worn-in look. The faded and worn pattern adds a vintage flair to any traditional or modern room. As well, for the size of the rug, you can’t beat the price!

$149.00 CAD

METTALISE Cushion Cover

This pillow is so versatile and could be mixed in with so many different styles. It would look great with other striped or solid coloured cushions.

$7.99 CAD

JATTEVALLMO Duvet Cover

The print on this fabric is a spin on the classic paisley design. It’s fresh and modern and comes in three colours: blue, grey and pink. And for the price, you really can’t go wrong!

$39.99 CAD

STRIMSPORRE Cushion Cover

How fun is this print?? The pattern mimics a watercolour painting and would look great on a sofa or bed with other blue cushions.

$5.99 CAD

So there you have it! Some of my top favourite pieces in the new IKEA catalogue. I can’t wait to purchase some of these new items for our home. So what are your favourite items from the IKEA catalogue?

Happy Monday! A little late on the Valentine's pos Happy Monday! A little late on the Valentine's post... but let's be real, we should be celebrating those we love every day! And personally, I think the day after Valentine's Day is even better cause all that leftover chocolate is on sale. πŸ˜‹
Progress pic! πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ You must all think I just l Progress pic! πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ You must all think I just love to paint cause I feel like that's all I've been doing since the start of the year πŸ˜‚. Well this past weekend has been spent doing just that. At the back of our basement we have a section that we've been using as our office. As you can see from the before photo it was in major need of an update! I have some big plans in mind to fixup this space but for now I decided to see what a little paint could do. I don't love the wood paneling and absolutely hated the green wall colour so I used the leftover paint we had from the rest of our basement to freshen this space up. What do you all think?!
Oh heyyyy πŸ‘‹Just hanging out in MY NEW BASEMENT! Oh heyyyy πŸ‘‹Just hanging out in MY NEW BASEMENT! If you've been following me for a while then you know that the past three months have been dedicated to transforming this space. It all started when I wanted to rip down the old ugly wallpaper and now here we are... With a completely new room!
.
.
I think we were a little in over our heads when we started tackling this project...but slowly we worked away on it (with a little extra help) one step at a time. I think I can officially say this is my favourite space in our house!
.
.
It's definitely not without its flaws and we learned alot along the way... But man does it ever look good! πŸ‘
.
.
There's still more that needs to be done of course... We need to paint the trim and baseboards, replace the windows, paint the fireplace (my next project πŸ˜†) and get new furniture... But it has come such a long way!!
.
.
If you have been following this project from the start then you know all the ups and downs we had along the way. Not going to lie... A few tears were shed... πŸ˜… Luckily we are now at a place where we can finally enjoy and appreciate all the hard work. Next part is the fun part... Styling and decorating!

Our basement walls finally have some colour!!! And Our basement walls finally have some colour!!! And that colour is Ghost Writer by Dulux to be exact 😁. Not sure how it got that name, but I'm really loving it. I was a little worried about selecting a colour for such a large area in our home considering I wasn't able to get a test can... But luckily it's worked out! It's a mid-tone greige/taupey colour and I think it's really going to look great once our basement is all done...

Speaking of which...

We are almost done with our basement reno and I couldn't be more excited! (Except for the fact that we still have to purchase some new furniture which is a little tricky right now 😬).

This project has been almost 3 months in the making and we are finally getting closer the finish line. Just a little bit more to go and we will be all done! (That is until we start tackling our next project πŸ˜†).
I call this my "I haven't left the house in a week I call this my "I haven't left the house in a week because I've been busy renovating my basement" look πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. I think I can pull off being covered in paint (and dry wall dust) pretty well by now πŸ™ƒ. Although this wall behind me doesn't look like much, it has actually come such a long way. It all started when I wanted to just rip off the old wallpaper one weekend. Now here we are two months later and still working away. Even though our basement is far from being complete, lots has been done!
βœ”οΈ wallpaper removed
βœ”οΈ textured ceiling removed
βœ”οΈ the ugly spotlights removed and replaced with potlights (Merry Christmas to me)
βœ”οΈ ceiling skimcoated
βœ”οΈ ceiling and walls primed (still working away on some touch ups)

Unfortunately we did not get as far as we thought this week due to a few hiccups along the way. But looking back it's amazing to see how much progress has been made! The next steps will be to paint the ceilings and walls and the the fun part - getting new furniture and redecorating!

Also raise of hands if you've been with me since day one of this project! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈβœ‹. If you have, then you probably feel my pain πŸ˜‚. And if you haven't, make sure to check out my highlight reel!
